Maria Ruggiero
The Verdehr Trio

An ensemble of established preeminence, little needs to be said about The Verdehr Trio that is not already known to the greater part of the music world. Eloquent and articulate in either genre, standard or contemporary repertoire, Walter & Elsa Verdehr, have dedicated a lifetime to the performance and commissioning of modern works for the Violin, Clarinet & Piano Trio ensemble.

The current recording features one such commissioned work by Composer-Violinist, Robert Mann. Founder and first violinist of the world acclaimed Juilliard String Quartet for many years until his recent retirement. The commissioned work, 'Katchi-Katchi' was recorded and simultaneously videotaped at the Mann studio on Central Park West in New York City.

The Verdehr Trio is in residence at Michigan State University. An article about the Trio appears in the new Groves Dictionary of Music and the Trio has won an Adventuresome Programming Award from ASCAP & Chamber Music America. Thank you Walter, Elsa & Silvia!
