A Juilliard alumnus, as most of the
artists in this gallery are,
Soon-Hee is also founder and president of
‘The Korea Music Foundation. When she is not busy
teaching Master Classes, she is busy assisting budding young
talents with their New York debut recitals.
‘Melodies from Korea’ is
a gem of a collection of wonderful lieder-like folk melodies
surely to transport and lull you into a realm of
rustic musical ambiance, Korean or not!
An earlier recording of ours the album was
recorded at the
“American Academy of Arts and
Letters” in New York.
Ms. Lee’s performance is straightforward and
unpretentious, as folk songs
ought to be. Despite the seeming
simplicity, however, one hears all the years of
training that went into all that seeming ease.
